Pete Welch Announced as New Chairman of PTENUKI

We are thrilled to announce Pete Welch as the new Chairman of PTENUKI (PTEN UK & Ireland). With over 40 years of experience in finance, a strong commitment to his family, and a deep personal connection to the PTEN community, Pete is set to lead the charity with energy, compassion, and a clear vision for the future.

Pete, a father of four, including 20-year-old twins, became involved with PTENUKI after one of his twin daughters was diagnosed with the PTEN gene at the age of 18. Since then, Pete and his family have been passionate supporters of the charity, dedicating their time to raising awareness and funds for this important cause.

“As a family, we’ve been actively involved in fundraising for PTENUKI for the past two years,” Pete shared. “This summer, we even completed a sponsored climb up Snowdon—though it felt more like winter!” Their commitment to the cause doesn’t end there. In May, Pete married his wife Clare and, instead of receiving wedding gifts, they asked their guests to donate to PTENUKI. This generous gesture reflects their shared dedication to supporting those affected by PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome (PHTS).

The family has also been inspired by the PTENUKI community and the professionals and families they’ve met along the way. “The PTENUKI Open Day in 2023 was a turning point for us,” Pete said. “Meeting others who are dedicated to this cause was both motivating and humbling.”

As Pete looks forward to retirement, he’s eager to devote even more time to PTENUKI. “Retirement is on the horizon, and I’m excited to become more involved in the incredible work PTENUKI does for patients and their families,” Pete said. His leadership will be grounded in the experiences of those directly impacted by PHTS, including his own family’s journey.

Pete’s personal investment in PTENUKI’s mission and his proactive approach to fundraising and advocacy make him an ideal Chairman to steer the charity forward. His goal is to continue raising awareness, supporting families, and helping fund research that can lead to better understanding and treatments for PHTS.

We are confident that under Pete’s leadership, PTENUKI will continue to thrive and grow, making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by PHTS.

Please join us in welcoming Pete as the new Chairman of PTENUKI and hopefully he will meet a few of you in the near future.
