PGD: Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis

Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) or PGT (Pre-implantation Genetic Testing) is available to prospective parents who have a serious inherited / genetic condition to avoid passing it onto their children. It is a treatment which involves testing the genes / chromosomes of embryos in a lab, therefore also needs to IVF, even for those with no fertility problems. Speak to your genetic specialist who will refer you to the correct hospital. PGD can be funded through the NHS, on successful application and specific criteria being met, or can be privately funded (approx. £10k).

Below is a list of useful website and resources with further information on PGD / PGT.
