We are excited to introduce you to the Pipgen Art Project, an extraordinary collaboration between science and art! Over the past five months, a cohort of ITN PhD students have worked alongside talented art students from the prestigious Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts, creating a unique collection of 15 science-inspired artworks. Each piece is a creative representation of different aspects of the biological PI3K/PTEN pathway. The aim of this project is to transform complex scientific concepts into engaging visual art, providing new perspectives and sparking conversations between scientists, artists, and the public.
Inauguration Event: September 26th
Mark your calendars for the official Pipgen Art Project inauguration on September 26th! The event will take place at The Denis Murphy Gallery (1-3 Chesterton Rd, Cambridge CB4 3AD), with doors opening at 16:00.
This will be your first chance to view all 15 original artworks, each showcasing a different element of the PI3K/PTEN pathway. Meet the scientists who inspired the project and the gifted artists who brought these concepts to life. This event is the culmination of months of collaboration, creativity, and scientific discovery.
Roundtable Discussion with Charities
In addition to the artwork, Kelly Kearley our charity manager will lead an open-door roundtable discussion at 17:30, offering invaluable insights into how the PI3K/PTEN pathway impacts patients and their families. This discussion will bring together patients, scientists, and artists in a truly unique forum, fostering dialogue about the intersection of art, science, and health.
People’s Choice Award
The evening will conclude with an awards ceremony where the top three artworks will be recognized. You, as an attendee, will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award, helping us select the most impactful artwork of the exhibition. So, come and make your vote count!
